Principal's Message

Dear PHES Students and Families, 

We hope that you have been enjoying your summer and family adventures!  As an elementary staff, we are looking forward to a new school year and cannot wait to get started!  

The 2019-2020 school year marks my first year with Pleasant Hill R-III School District.  As the elementary building leader, you can expect me to be...

I am so very grateful to be part of this wonderful school community.  I look forward to meeting you at the upcoming school events. Together, the PHES Staff and I are looking forward to a fantastic school year with your family! 

This year our theme is REIMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES! We believe at PHES, that students learn best when their experiences are engaging and connected to real life.  Students will be exploring their creativity and discovering new ways of thinking through Project Based Learning, STEAM challenges and experiencing Project Lead the Way (PLTW).  We want this for every child because our mission states:  Pleasant Hill Elementary School creates an authentic learning environment that promotes communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We foster the growth of the whole child. Staff, families, and the community support and respect one another to create an environment in which students will thrive. 

Below is important information to help you prepare for the upcoming school year:
Enrollment/Proof of Residency Event will take place July 31st (A-K) and August 1st (L-Z) from 1:00-7:00 pm at Pleasant Hill High School.  You will be able to complete all back-to-school business at one time and in one place. This year families will be asked to pay a supply fee of $40 that will cover class supplies, their school planner and class t-shirt. Each student will only need to provide a backpack. Having completed the online registration prior to attending this event will expedite the process.  There will be computers available during the course of Enrollment/Proof of Residency should you need them.

If you miss Enrollment/Proof of Residency Days, you will need to go to Central Office, located at 318 Cedar Street, to enroll. Once enrollment is completed at Central Office, you may visit the Elementary School beginning Tuesday, August 6th.

Please mark these important dates on your calendar for the first week of school.
Wednesday, August 14th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm -  Meet the Teacher 
Students and families are invited to come meet their teacher, see classrooms, and the rest of the school. Additional information will be shared and questions can be answered at this time.
Thursday, August 15th - First Day of School  
School starts at 8:30. Meet in the gym to walk to class with your teacher.
Thursday, August 22nd - Picture Day (order forms will be available at the District Residency Event)
