Principal's Message

Dear PHES Students and Families,
It is a busy time of year! The snow days have moved field trips and a
few other events. Please note the dates above and mark your
calendars so you don’t miss any of the fun!
We are working hard for the rest of the year to prepare for MAP
testing and squeeze in every bit of learning that a third and fourth
grader needs to be successful next year. Please help us out by getting your child to school on
time and ready to learn each day. We promise engaging and rigorous lessons that will stretch
their thinking and creativity!
MAP testing will begin promptly after Spring Break. Each classroom teacher should be
sharing the specific days your child will be testing. Students perform their best when they
can take these tests with their teacher and peers instead of doing a make -up day. We
appreciate your efforts to make sure they are rested and in school on these days.
As many of you know, I had resigned from my position at PHES in February. I have enjoyed
my time here - the staff and students are beyond compare - but I made the decision to move
home (St. Louis). I have found a new position and am excited to lead other educators to
providing a quality education to all students.
The new principal, Kayla Taylor, and I will work closely to make the transition as smooth as
possible. I know she is going to continue the great things that are happening at PHES. She will
be visiting the school this month and is looking for a date to meet with families and the
community. Pleasant Hill is lucky to have her.
The last day of school will be May 24th. We will have a school wide assembly at 9:30 am that
morning to celebrate student growth, awards and other accomplishments. Please join us.
Thank you for your support as we close another school year. Our students are successful
because of hard working teachers and parents that assist and support the work of the
schools. We appreciate the partnership and recognize that you are an integral part to a
productive school year.
